New Orleans, LA, December 17, 2015 – The Board of Trustees of De La Salle High School has announced the appointment of Michael Giambelluca, J.D., current Principal of Christ the King Parish School in Terrytown, as the school’s new President. He will assume his new responsibilities on July 15, 2016, and he will succeed Interim President, Myles M. Seghers ‘65, Ph.D., who is retiring.
Mr. Giambelluca is a well-known and distinguished New Orleans educator. He has 26 years of experience in education, and he has served for 15 years as a Catholic school administrator, including 13 years at the high school level and 2 at the elementary level. Michael is married to Donnamaria Giambelluca, a life-long Catholic educator, and they have four children, Jonathan, Nicholas, Abbie, and Christopher. Nicholas is a proud alumnus of De La Salle’s class of 2008. Mr. and Mrs. Giambelluca are also the proud grandparents of their granddaughter, Carmela, who is 22 months old. Dr. Seghers commented, “Mr. Giambelluca’s experience, especially in Catholic education, will be extremely beneficial to the De La Salle community.” Mr. Giambelluca received his bachelor’s degree in Latin and philosophy, and his juris doctorate from Tulane University. Dr. Seghers added, “I am looking forward to working with Mr. Giambelluca during this transition period, and I ask that the De La Salle family join me in welcoming him.”
